The origin of the term “Made in Germany”

German quality? In the first instance not a quality label.

The term “Made in Germany” was originally used as a warning against poor German quality. Around 1850, the British Empire was the leading industrial nation, but the British companies, especially the “Sheffield” company for knives and scissors, feared for their existence.
Because the Germans began to copy the goods in poor quality. To protect the British companies, the label “Made in Germany” was introduced.
Today, the situation is quite different: German quality stands for exemplary competence and comprehensive know-how.

Requirements for the label “Made in Germany”

In order for a product to be awarded the “Made in Germany” label, the decisive manufacturing, final assembly and value-added share of at least 45 % must take place in Germany.
The value chain says that development, design, production, final assembly and quality assurance must take place in Germany.
However, individual parts may be purchased abroad or their production may be relocated abroad.
In this case, it is only important that the value-based services, meaning the services that characterize the product’s features, continue to take place in Germany.

The location in Germany

It is advantageous that the companies using this designation, including ELORA, must comply with German law due to being located in Germany. Therefore, the term also stands for quality, product safety, environmental protection and security for employees.

ELORA: From the idea to the product – Made in Germany

Our products are digitally engineered to verify fit and final design, then it’s off to manufacturing. First, prototypes are created to determine haptic and performance. The focus is on functionality, durability and an appealing design.

ELORA: Production in Germany

We produce in Germany at our location in Remscheid. In our nine in-house production departments, the products are manufactured from the blank to the final product.
During this process, all quality-relevant operations, manufacturing and heat treatment of the tools take place.

The desires and expectations of our customers significantly characterize our work and the high standard of quality. We act accordingly and continuously invest in development and new process technologies in order to maintain our high-quality standard.
In addition, we guarantee “ELORA Premium Quality” as the highest quality parameter for all products. Even those whose production is partly or completely carried out by proven partners.

TÜV certified

Since 1997 the TÜV certifies our company in regular intervals.
The scope of DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 is in the area of “design/development, production and administration of tools and accessories of all types”.
